The Martin Goodman Waterfront Trail is still very "dongerous" (EllisDongerous) after more than a month ago when I filed a claim with City of Toronto and they've still not fixed it.

In fact they made it even more dongerous by erecting a solid plywood fence blocking the view so you can't see oncoming traffic when you go around the bend, and I've witnessed dozens of accidents there!

See my letter which they'll probably ignore:

Andrea and Carrie,

This is to put you on notice that there are dozens of accidents happening at this dangerous maze of fences, and it has been more than a month since my letter of July 2nd that you acknowledge having received.

Yesterday, I witnessed 3 accidents happen in just a couple of minutes including a pedestrian and bike crash, and a scooter and bike crash.

2014 MTO Bikeways Design Manual defines this as a 'shared use off road active transportation path'.
According to the MTO Bikeways Design Manual, the lane width must be a minimum of 3.0 m "in constrained corridors", with a desired width of 4.0 m.
The actual width is about 1m which is only about one third the minimum width required.

The turn radius is about 2m where there is a sudden bend, and the 2014 MTO Bikeways Design Manual requires at least 10m for the 20km/h speed of the Martin Goodman Trail.

Please provide me with your design measurements for creating the radius of curvature for this section of the pathway.

The path also appears to fail to meet the 'stopping sight distance' requirements.

Please show me your design analysis on this.

You have also made the path worse by putting up a solid board fence which further reduces visibility around the bend.

Yesterday I also saw City of Toronto workers in "311" trucks maintaining this dangerous maze of fences.
See for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCKt-5Uv6-M

Are you telling the truth when you say this space is the sole responsibility of EllisDon?

If so, why are City of Toronto workers maintaining it?

Regards,

Steve
